Rules
1. This division is open to ANY Iowa residents.
2. Participants may have a total of 3 exhibits in each project area: food and nutrition, clothing, home improvement, needlework, art work,
craft projects, rocketry, quilting and woodworking.
3. If number of exhibits are adequate, classes may be divided into Junior (up to 16 years of age) and adult classes.
4. Entry forms are available at the fairgrounds in Exhibit Building #2.
5. Ribbons Only – No Premium.
6. Exhibits will be released on Thursday at 8:30pm
7. If possible, all exhibits must be labeled with exhibitor’s name, address and phone number.

Department 8—Photography
1. Photographs may be black and white or color. Photographs may be processed from slides, negatives, digital cameras and computer manipulation
programs.
2. Photos may be mounted; they can be (a) flush mounted (no mounting board showing and on mounting board) or (b) with mount border.
3. Photos may be matted.
4. If photos are not mounted, they may be exhibited in a clear plastic covering such as photo album page.
5. We will not accept framed photos.
6) Photo size 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, 11x14 accepted
7) All exhibitors are limited to no more than 2 entries per class, not to exceed 10 entries total.
8) Photos must be labeled on back with exhibitor name, address and phone number.

Open Horticulture Show

1. Exhibitor qualifications – see rules #1 and #3 under Open Class Division above.
2. Only three entries will be accepted in each class.
3. Entries must be grown by the exhibitor. Professional florists may not compete. Cut horticulture exhibits are to be exhibited in a clear plastic bottle
weighted down. A small amount of plant material, styrofoam, clear plastic or wooden block may be used in the neck of the container only to prop or
wedge the specimen upright. Potted specimens are an exception.
4. The following are not permitted in the flower show: natural bird’s nests, “stuffed birds”, butterflies or other insects, fish, birds or animals.
5. Arrangements must be the work of the exhibitor. No artificial flowers, fruit, foliage or noxious weeds are permitted.

Department 1—Flowers
Classes
01 Container Grown (hanging baskets, pots or patio)
02 Annuals (one stalk, one spike, one bloom, or one spray)
03 Perennials (one stalk, one spike, one bloom, or one spray)
04 Flowering Houseplant (African Violet, begonia, cactus, new or unusual plant)
05 Foliage Houseplant (philodendron, ivy, succulent, wandering jew, new or unusual plant)
06 Roses/Woody Bush (one stalk, one spike, one bloom, or one spray)
Department 2—Floral Arrangements
Ribbons, accessories or other accents are accepted.
Classes
01 Arrangement (for any month of the year)
02 Arrangement (for dinner table, church alter, hall, porch, coffee table, desk, etc.)
03 Patriotic (using red, white and blue)
04 Dried (swag, wreath, wall arrangement or centerpiece) All flowers and greenery must be natural.
05 Teacup (using a teacup to arrange in)
Department 3—Vegetable and Fruit
Homegrown vegetables and fruits to be displayed on paper plates.
Classes
01 Vegetable or Fruit Tray (exhibit should consist of 3-5 different items)
02 Individual Plates – home grown vegetables or fruit displayed on sturdy styrofoam or paper trays or plates, 3 specimens unless otherwise stated.
Exhibits may come from the following.
• Beans, beets, carrots, radishes, peas, cucumbers, onions, peppers, potatoes, slicing tomatoes
• Cabbage, 1 head
• Leaf or head lettuce, 1 plant in water
• Spinach, 1 plant in water
• Summer squash, 2 specimens
• Sweet corn, 3 ears with husks
• Cherry Tomato, 5 specimens
• Fruits, any home grown, such as raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, etc., 1 cup
• Apple, early, 3 specimens
03 Herbs – any variety, 1 sprig
• Dill
• Oregano
• Lavender
• Chives
• Thyme
• Etc.
Youth Division
